ULTIMATE FRISBEE

Ultimate Frisbee is a team sport in which the objective is to get the disc into the opposing team's end zone. It requires an ample amount of stamina, wrist action, and strategy. I was a member of my school's ultimate frisbee team for two years serving as co-handler with the ability to play in numerous other positions. Being newly introduced to our school, we were the underdogs during the tournament but showed that we were a team worth watching, placing 13th in Ontario during the first official OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association) tournament.

BADMINTON

Although our 2020 season was affected due to circumstances out of our control, I have been a member of this team from the beginning of my high school career. From my amateur Grade 9 year, I have grown a lot as a player both on and off the court. Although I did not place in the tournaments, badminton has been an amazing opportunity to meet new people, overcome various obstacles, and of course have fun doing something I love. I was the MVP of the 2018-2019 season and in our brief 2020 training season, I assumed the position of captain, coaching the younger players as those before me had done for me.

GRADE 9 TUTORING

During my grade 11 year, along with some fellow classmates, we partook in volunteering our lunch time to tutor grade 9 students. Knowing how difficult and stressful the first year of high school can be, we decided the least we could do is help our fellow freshman ease into the experience. This was an amazing experience as I was able to be a role model to my fellow Chaminade brothers and inspire them to work hard and follow their dreams. Although I missed many lunches and opportunities to hangout with my friends, I was able to give back to the community in ways I never thought possible. Most rewarding of all was the gratitude they showed towards us and the joy of witnessing our tutees excel. It really showed us that our time investment and sacrifice was all worth it.

W.A.V.E YOUTH ACTION TEAM

W.A.V.E stands for Working Against Violence Everyday. Through our work, we presented to over 160 students in the TCDSB school board during the month of December 2018. The information we present are relevant to the students and gives us an opportunity to educate the elementary school students while they are still young. Topics we teach include preventing bullying, harassment, increasing work ethic, and so on. Through this experience, I am able to give back to the community by educating the younger generation.

DRUMMING

One of my many passions includes music and I play the drums. I have been a drummer for almost 10 years and it has been an amazing experience. Through drumming, I am able to express my feelings through something I love. It is an emotional medium for me and I have had days when drums have been a way for me to escape situations and calm down. My passion for drumming has helped me become dedicated and has taught me that countless hours of practice are what it takes to master a craft.

ALTAR SERVER

I've been an Altar Server since I was 13. Like many experiences, when I first began, I made mistakes and was really nervous. However, as I continued, I became a better altar server. I was dedicated and put in hours of my time to make sure the mass ran smoothly. It was an amazing opportunity to get involved with the community and it made me feel like I was part of something bigger than myself. Many people who worship at the same place as I served at became more familiar with me and it was great to be able to have an extended family routed in faith.
